FREE European Football At The EBB Stadium

Chelsea host FREE European football at the EBB Stadium next Tuesday as they begin their 2016-17 Premier League International Cup campaign against the renowned Feyenoord Academy.

The Group D fixture kicks-off at 7.05pm as The Blues host the five-time winners of the Rinus Michels Award for the best Academy in Dutch football.

Feyenoord have already played one group game, losing 2-0 to Swansea City. Their squad featured featured three full internationals, plus an array of Netherlands youth internationals, first-team squad members and one of Dutch football’s hottest young prospects, defender Sven van Beek who has been linked with a move to Southampton and Lazio.

Past graduates of the Feyenoord Academy include Robin van Persie, Bruno Martins Indi, Giorginio Wijnaldum, Jonathan de Guzman, Vincent Janssen and current Feyenoord first-team head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

That is followed, on Friday 16 December, by another of Europe’s most revered Academies, in GNK Dinamo Zagreb from Croatia. The first-team are current national champions, with an Academy whose alumni include Luka Modric, Zvonimir Boban, Robert Prosinecki, Dario Simic and Vedran Corluka. They too have also faced Swansea City in Group D, drawing 0-0 in Wales with a squad which featured 12 youth internationals and several players with first-team experience.

Chelsea complete their Premier League International Cup group fixtures against Swansea City on Thursday 22 December, whose squad features 13 youth internationals from across Britain.

In between, Chelsea also host Manchester United in a mouth-watering Premier League 2 fixture at the EBB Stadium, on Friday 9 December. Chelsea beat Southampton 3-2 on Monday night with a side which featured John Terry, Cesc Fabregas, Michy Batshuayi and Kurt Zouma.

Chelsea’s Under 18 side also begin the defence of their FA Youth Cup title on Tuesday 13 December against Cardiff City. Admission is £3 and £1.
