Three of our young Shots have been given international recognition!
Jaybrian Romano has been selected for the Aruba National team, Toby Nelson has been selected to represent England u18 Schoolboys, and Zion Nditi has been selected for the Tanzanian training camp ahead of their Africa Cup Of Nations campaign.
Romano recently signed for the club having spent the first part of the season on trial at Nottingham Forest. He has been a welcome addition to the squad and has settled in extremely well in a short period of time.
Nditi joined the club in the summer having spent a number of years at Reading FC, where he was the captain of their under 18’s. Since joining, the defender has been ever-present in the 21s side with several call ups to train alongside the first-team and has featured in a number of first-team friendlies.
Under 21s coach, Ryan Case, said: “Zion (Nditi) is a great lad who has an infectious personality to go alongside his on-field ability, he fully deserves this recognition and I hope he embraces the experience that this opportunity presents for him.”
“Jay (Jaybrian Romano) has come across to us and finally found a home to settle in. He has come on leaps and bounds since joining and with every passing week he is getting better and better as to be expected.”
Toby Nelson, who is a current under 18 with a great deal of potential, featured heavily in our FA Youth Cup run and has been central to some big moments during his time with us.
Academy Manager Richard Anderson noted:
“Toby has worked hard to be in the position he finds himself in. He is someone who has a really bright future with us, and has demonstrated high performance levels and mental strength to earn this opportunity. I’m so pleased for him to be starting to reap the rewards for his resilience and performances. Congratulations to Toby.”
On all three, Anderson commented:
“All three boys should be rightly proud of their achievements. It is also testament to the support they have received along the way in reaching this point, be it parents, friends, coaches and teammates. We will continue to do what we can in the Academy to help them to progress and bridge the gap to our First Team, whereby I hope, one day, they can become household names for our supporters.”
