Tommy Widdrington’s Shots return to National League action after 10 days as they take on an in-form Fylde side at the EBB Stadium on Tuesday night.
Aldershot have been out of action in the National League since a 2-1 victory over Halifax Town, as last Saturday’s fixture against Gateshead was postponed due to their ongoing involvement in the FA Trophy, however the Shots will have to wait no longer, as they host Fylde under the lights.
Fylde are in great form under manager Chris Beech, having picked up 16 pointsin 6 games thanks to 5 wins and a draw, form that has them on par with runaway leaders Chesterfield in the National League form table. However, the Shots have lost just twice at the EBB Stadium all season, so Tuesday promises an enthralling clash.
LAST TIME OUT:
It was a handful of firsts for the Shots at Mill Farm earlier in the season: a first clean sheet, a first away win and a first goal for Tyler Frost in the 2023/24 season.
The two sides were locked in deadlock until the 69th minute, when Ryan Glover struck to give Aldershot a 1-0 lead. Tyler Frost added a goal of the season contender for Aldershot, picking up the ball from distance and driving a fantastic effort into the back of the Fylde net to make it 2-0 with just over 10 to go. The score would remain 2-0, and the Shots made the long trip back home with all the points.
SINCE WE MET:
Fylde have had a change of management since we last saw them, with Chris Beech taking interim charge of the side, and more recently being given a contract until the end of the season. The Coasters would lose their next two following defeat to Aldershot, but beat Southend and then picked up a point to Boreham Wood.
Three losses followed the point to Boreham Wood, but form took a turn as they beat Leek Town to make the First Round Proper of the FA Cup, before drawing to Ebbsfleet and beating Oldham and Gateshead by an aggregate score of 7-0. Form dipped for Fylde following their exit from the FA Cup, and they didn’t see another win until January 1st against Rochdale, however since then Fylde have seen just one loss in the FA Trophy, winning 5 and drawing 1 of their last 6 in the National League.

IN THE DUGOUT:
Looking to rectify Fylde’s loss in the dugout is Chris Beech. Beech was given the manager job until the end of the season in December last year, and as mentioned above has done a mighty job in permanent charge, losing once to Rochdale during his time. In his playing days Beech was a central midfielder, and made over 315 appearances. His first steps into management came with Bury FC, before he made a long association with Rochdale, and then became manager of Carlisle in 2019, Carlisle last season being promoted thanks to the course in which Beech set them on.
