Message from Club Chairman, Shahid Azeem

The following is a message from Club Chairman, Shahid Azeem:

Yesterday, we achieved Club History by reaching Wembley for the first time. It’s been incredible hearing and seeing so many of your stories about what this means to everyone connected with the Club.

Your support yesterday was loud and proud and undoubtedly helped the players push on and to see the EBB Stadium sold out with the second-highest attendance since the Club reformed in 1992 was truly special.

We must unfortunately condemn the action of a very small minority of individuals who did their best to blight a joyous occasion with idiotic actions that are now being dealt with by the police with the full co-operation of the Club – they will not be welcome back.

But on the whole, the vast, vast majority were superb and with the season far from over, we want to see as many of you as possible returning to the EBB Stadium for our three remaining home games starting with Tuesday night’s clash against Boston United.

It was also fantastic to see the town of Aldershot bustling both before and after the game. Local pubs were drunk dry and local restaurants and shops bloomed with custom: Your support at our games is not just beneficial to the Club but to the town and our local community as a whole.

It’s befitting that as Aldershot – known as the home of the British Army – will make it’s way to Wembley on May, 11th, that week will also mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the end of fighting in Europe in the Second World War. As a Club, we pride ourselves on our relationship with the Armed Forces and will look to commemorate the occasion at the home of British Football.

On behalf of Deane Wood, John Leppard and myself, I’d like to say a massive thank you to Tommy Widdrington, his staff and his players, our behind-the-scenes staff, our Volunteers, our Sponsors and of course you, our supporters, for helping us to finally achieve our dream of playing under that famous arch.

And on behalf of everyone at Aldershot Town: Que Sera, Sera!
