Fresh from an inspirational meeting with goalkeeper Becky Spencer, of FA Women’s Cup holders Chelsea Ladies, the Aldershot Town Football in the Community Trust girls team will again be appearing at Wembley Stadium on Cup Final day!
In conjunction with the FA, Premier League and Football League Trust, the Wembley Girls’ Football Festival will be held on Saturday 14 May at Powerleague Wembley, ahead of the SSE FA Women’s Cup Final. Aldershot Town’s Under 16 Girls five-a-side team have again entered the Festival, which commences at 8am and finishes at approximately 1pm. They will play four group matches, the winners of which will progress to the knock-out stages.
In addition to the five-a-side matches, there will be a range of activities available for the girls to try throughout the day, sponsored by Continental Tyres, including a speed cage, target shoot, freestyle workshop and referee workshop. Straight after the Festival, all players will be given free tickets to watch The FA Women’s Cup final.
Last Wednesday, Chelsea Ladies goalkeeper Becky Spencer joined the team’s weekly training session at Connaught School to talk about her career and future ambitions, as well as giving advice on fitness, professionalism, and health and nutrition.
If you want to play for The Shots at Wembley, trials are being held on Wednesday 20 and 27 April at 5pm, on the 3G pitch at Connaught School in Aldershot. There is no need to book your place, but for further information please email fitc@theshots.co.uk or call 01252 320211.
